Senior Systems Engineer with experience related to Commercial Aircraft Avionics Systems and the ability to conduct comprehensive system-wide review and analysis of the avionics equipment aspects of the National Airspace System (NAS) development life cycle, with particularly emphasis on ground and airborne equipment employed in the Air Traffic Control (ATC) system, including ATC automation, air-ground communications, navigation and surveillance.  Provide expertise in the transition of legacy avionics systems to modernized systems. Interface with aviation community through industry/ government committees to identify and analyze avionics interoperability challenges. Assist in the development of equipage strategies across the commercial, business, general aviation and military communities that accommodate current equipage while providing a pathway to incorporate emerging technologies.  Analyze system architectures and interfaces in the context of technology readiness levels to help define operational and system evolution.  Provide analysis and recommendations of system risks and necessary improvements or mitigation strategies.  Define the trends in evolving avionics and determine how to leverage those changes to meet NextGen technology requirements.  Develop an equipage investment strategy.

Qualifications:

This position requires knowledge of aircraft and avionics systems to include a wide range of avionics experience related to airborne and ground communication, navigation and surveillance technologies.  Commercial avionics design, manufacturing, interface standards, installation, regulations and certification. Knowledge and understanding of avionics integration processes and requirements. Knowledge of commercial aircraft avionics subsystem functionality.  Experience working on project technical planning and analysis.  Systems knowledge of air to ground systems, communications and flight processes.  Knowledge of the air traffic system environment (tower, terminal, en-route) and FAA operations.  Understanding of airlines, aviation, and aviation infrastructure is desired.  Previous experience working with government contracting and project implementation.
 

Additional Requirements: 

A Bachelor of Science Degree in Electrical, Aerospace or Mechanical Engineering, or other suitable engineering discipline and 25+ years of related experience. 

Domestic and International travel may be required.  Experience in using the following tools is desirable: MS Office, Access, and Project Scheduler along with excellent written and oral communications. 

The ideal candidate should be highly motivated and have the ability to work independently as well as perform as a technical team leader or member.  Preference will be given to those candidates who Possess or have held an FAA Systems and Equipment DER (Designated Engineering Representative) authorization.

Duties and Responsibilities The incumbent will be part of the AIP Team and support its activities with various quantitative and qualitative analyses related both to individual projects as well as to planning and monitoring of AIP's overall activities. The duties and responsibilities of the incumbent will evolve with the needs of the AIP Team and to the extent the incumbent demonstrates his/her capabilities, and will include but not be limited to the following: (1) AIP Activities Projections: Maintain, under specific guidance from AIP management and individual Task Order Managers (TOM), a spreadsheet generating a Monthly Staffdays, Expenses & Revenues Forecast Report projecting 24 months forward such staffdays, expenses and revenues by Task Order (TO), and consolidating same (together with deviations of actuals from budgeted amounts) into AIP Totals for staffdays, expenses, and revenues.(2) Financial Modeling: Assist with modeling assignments on individual TOs, on an as needed basis and under guidance of the TOM and or assigned Project Finance Specialist, for creating the necessary financial projections model for the energy project in question, incorporating all necessary data and project finance structure into such model, using established financial projection techniques for generating pro-forma income statements, source and application statements and balance sheets.(3) Maintaining a Market Data Base: Systematically screen various sources of information from Trip Reports, subscribed publications, on-line websites, etc. to transcribe key information on existing and prospective AIP projects in a summary form to a Project Data Base designed as a template, with visual facility in mind, for project data communication which will (a) reflect basic data on such projects, and (b) take count of all collected project documentation for such projects in a coded, easy to visually comprehend manner (IA-Concession Agreement, FS-Feasibility Study, EIA-Environmental Impact Assessment, PIM-Project Information Memorandum, PPA-Power Purchasing Agreement, etc.)(4) Ad-hoc Research: Coordinate with the appropriate specialists or, as the case may be, carry out him/herself research, as assigned, to support AIP Team staff on specific topics pertaining to energy matters, projects, and countries.

Fosters positive and professional interpersonal relationships with patients/families, physicians, hospital staff, community representatives and visitors. Effectively uses interpersonal communication skills to promote a healing environment.

Master's degree in music therapy from an accredited program with one year post Master's experience as a music therapist; however, a bachelor's degree in music therapy from an accredited program combined with two years of experience as a music therapist may be substituted.  Experience with children, adolescents, and young adults, and experience working with patients with life-threatening or complex illnesses preferred.
